Worship and Music

Come to worship at St. Hilary's.  It is the best way to understand what shapes our life of faith.

Our prayer reflects and informs what we believe.  As a community of Christian faith we gather as baptized people around the Eucharist on Sunday mornings. Eucharist means "thanksgiving".  It is in the spirit of thanksgiving that we gather from the various preoccupations of our lives to be reminded of God's presence, and to learn more about what Jesus Christ's life, death, resurrection, and ascension means for the world.

Come on Sundays

8:30 a.m.

Eucharist.
  • This is a quiet, meditative, and reflective service of worship with readings, a sermon, and the Eucharist.

10:30 a.m.

Choral Eucharist.
  • This is a service of worship with music and a choir.

  • There is a program for children and youth at 10:30 (except during July and August).  The children and young people enter worship during "The Peace" to join in the celebration of The Eucharist.

  • If you like music or you are interested in participating in the CHOIR, speak to John Terauds, our Music Director. The choir meets at 9:30 am every Sunday to prepare for the 10:30 am service (except in July and August). No regular commitment is necessary, and don't worry if you can't read music; we'll show you the way.

Baptism is the entrance rite into the Christian Church.  Please speak to the clergy on Sunday if you are interested in being Baptized; and click here for a bit more information about Baptism preparation.

Marriage

If you are interested in celebrating the blessing of your Marriage at St. Hilary's, we are delighted to support you.  Please speak to the clergy on Sunday to indicate your intentions -- note, that we do require a minimum of sixty days notice before the date of your wedding.  The clergy typically meet with a couple at least three times, and require that you participate in a pre-marriage counselling resource.  We have several resources to recommend that couples of all ages have found helpful. The idea is to not only prepare you for this significant celebration at St. Hilary's, but to provide you with a foundation to support and uphold a healthy married life together after the celebration is over.
